Zsolnay, Pécs

In 1865, Vilmos Zsolnay took over his brother’s ceramics manufactory in Pécs. He made an effort to improve the materials the company used and to create new techniques. His first big success was brought on by the Viennese world exhibition. This motivated Zsolnay to come up with ideas that have never been done before. He came up with unique iridescent metal glazes, that he called Eosin. After Vilmos Zsolnay died in 1900, his son took over the company.
