Xenia Hausner
Vienna 1951Xenia Hausner was born in Vienna in 1951 as the daughter of the painter Rudolf Hausner. She initially studied stage design at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts and at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. Between 1975 and 1992 she worked on more than a hundred theater and opera productions, including for London's Covent Garden, Vienna's Burgtheater, the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels and the Salzburg Festival. Hausner has had a studio in Berlin since the early 1980s. Since 1992 she has devoted herself exclusively to painting. The center of her intense and color-expressive depictions is the human being, the majority women, which she often presents in a stage-like setting. Xenia Hausner lives and works in Berlin, Vienna and Hong Kong. She is one of the most renowned contemporary Austrian artists and is best known for her acrylic paintings and mixed media works.
