Clarisse S. Praun

Clarisse Praun, née Clarisse Schrack, was born in Vienna in 1925. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna under Christian Andersen and Herbert Boeckl. Praun also attended Kokoschka’s “School of Seeing” in 1953. In 1952 she started exhibiting regularly and was commissioned to do frescos, glass windows and mosaics. Her technique of using oil-based paint on canvases, in a way that makes it look like varnish or watercolors, is especially characteristic and impressive. Clarisse Praun died in Vienna in 2017.
