Through constantly evolving approaches, Wurm continually opens up new perspectives, which he explores in various series of works: ‘Dust Sculptures,’ ‘Clothes Sculptures,’ ‘Abstract Sculptures’ and, most recently, ‘Performative Sculptures’ are just as noteworthy as ‘Melting Houses,’ ‘Fat Cars’ and ‘The Artist Who Swallowed the World,’ which were on display in a major exhibition at Vienna's MUMOK in 2006. At the 57th Venice Biennale in 2017, Erwin Wurm exhibited in the Austrian Pavilion alongside Brigitte Kowanz. "Erwin Wurm has found an artistic language that is universal and widely understood. Its frame of reference can be understood everywhere. Erwin Wurm's work and influence are more international, successful and significant than those of any other living Austrian artist." Erwin Wurm lives and works in Vienna and Limberg, Lower Austria. In 2023, Erwin Wurm's sculptures were exhibited at both the Tel Aviv Museum of Art and the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. In 2024, the Albertina Modern dedicated an extensive retrospective to the artist.
