Roland Goeschl

Roland Goeschl was born in 1932 in Salzburg. In 1955 he enrolled in the Salzburg summer academy, from 1956 until 1960 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna under Fritz Wotruba, whose assistant Goeschl was from 1963 until 1966. In 1962 Goeschl worked at the Royal College in London for nine months. His works were shown in many exhibitions, nationally and internationally. He was presented at the Documenta in Kassel in 1964 and in 1968 and also at the Venice Biennale in 1968. The Secession in Vienna presented an interior design in 1994 and the Österreichische Galerie Belvedere dedicated a solo exhibition to Goeschl in 2006.
Form 1972 onwards the artist was professor for graphic and pictorial representation at the Technische Universität in Vienna.
Numerous works by the artist can be found in public places, such as those at the exhibition center in Salzburg or the Technische Universität in Vienna. Roland Goeschl, whose work builds on constructivist principles, was amongst the foremost proponents of Concrete Art in Austria.
