Leopold Ganzer

Innichen 1929 - 2008 Prägraten

Born on June 7, 1929 in San Candido, South Tyrol, Leopold Ganzer studied under R.C. Andersen in Vienna and, as a result of this artistic instruction, found his way to the “line”, which he himself described as one of the most important basic elements in art. Ganzer also pursued this clear line in his painterly interpretations of the “rock paintings”, which reflect an expression of meaningful, natural beauty through color alone, without great overload. Monochrome, layered bands of color, created by broad brushstrokes, form the rock formations, whose color scheme ranges from light blue/yellow to dark violet/green tones. The transitions between the color lines are either flowing, like small veins, or often reinforced with thick, black, graphic lines. Unaffected by artistic trends, the artist always remained true to himself and thus allows us an uncompromising view of his art! Leopold Ganzer died in 2008 in Prägraten, Tyrol.
