Alfons Walde – Nudes
March 4th till April 20th
Idyllic snowy mountain landscapes, happy skiers, and day-to-day scenes of the Tyrolean rural population: that is what Alfons Walde is mostly known for. Far less known is the decisive role that nude painting played in his artistic career. Free from the constraints and conventions of the art market, Walde’s nudes are amongst his most intimate and daring creations.
It is therefore with great pleasure that we present the first extensive exhibition of Alfons Walde’s Nudes in almost 100 years!
The comprehensive catalogue texts introducing us to this unknown side of Alfons Walde were written by Michael Walde-Berger, the artist’s grandson, and Stefan Üner. We cordially invite you to take this opportunity to get to know one of the most important and sought-after artists of Austrian Classical Modernism from a very different perspective!
We are looking forward to your visit!
